30 Year Anniversary
Next week (3rd November) marks the 30th anniversary of the release of The Jam classic 'Eton Rifles'. The song was inspired by the skirmishes between demonstrators on a Right to Work March, a campaign initiated by the Socialist Workers Party and pupils from Eton College. Taken from the album 'Setting Sons' it reached No.3 in the charts and was the catalyst which propelled the band to greatness and chart domination. One of Paul Weller's most political songs it still resonates today - 30 years after it was origianlly released.
Taken from the recent BBC4 session this is Mr.Paul Weller sounding as good as he did 30 years ago.
